How to use this tool

  1. Enter your regular expression pattern into the Regex Input Bar (without enclosing forward slashes).

  2. Toggle your desired regex flags: Global (g), Case Insensitive (i), Multiline (m), and DotAll (s).

  3. Paste or type your sample test string into the input pane, or select from built-in preset patterns (Email, URL, Date, IPv4, UUID, Phone).

  4. View live match highlighting directly in the text preview pane with alternating color accents.

  5. Inspect the detailed Match Details and Capture Groups breakdown showing exact character indices and numbered ($1, $2) or named groups.

  6. Click 'Copy Regex String' to copy the formatted pattern or 'Export Match Report (.txt)' to download a complete test summary.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about file privacy, processing modes, formats, and device support.

No. All regular expression parsing, execution, and visual highlighting are processed 100% client-side inside your browser sandbox. Your test strings, proprietary code, and regex patterns are never transmitted or logged.
This tool supports standard ECMAScript regular expression flags: 'g' (Global search for all matches), 'i' (Case insensitive matching), 'm' (Multiline matching for ^ and $), and 's' (DotAll, allowing '.' to match newline characters).
Whenever your regular expression contains capture parentheses (like (abc) or (?<name>xyz)), the tool inspects each match and displays numbered groups ($1, $2, etc.) as well as named groups with their exact extracted values.
Yes. The execution engine includes zero-width loop safeguards and match caps (up to 1,000 matches) to prevent browser freezes or runaway loops when testing greedy or nested quantifiers.
Yes. The Preset Patterns dropdown includes battle-tested regular expressions for emails, web URLs, IPv4 addresses, ISO dates, hex colors, phone numbers, and UUID v4 tokens that you can load with a single click.
You can click 'Copy Regex String' to copy the pattern with its selected flags in standard /pattern/flags literal notation, ready to paste directly into JavaScript, TypeScript, Python (re.compile), Go, or PHP.
