Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about file privacy, processing modes, formats, and device support.

The tool uses native web APIs (FileReader, Uint8Array, atob/btoa, and Blob) directly in your browser's local memory. The conversion executes entirely on your device with zero API calls or server transmission.
Base64 represents 8-bit binary data using 6-bit ASCII characters (A-Z, a-z, 0-9, +, /). Because 3 binary bytes (24 bits) require 4 Base64 characters (24 bits), the encoded string is mathematically 33.3% larger than the raw binary asset.
Base64 is ideal for small icons, logos, loaders, and SVG sprites (typically under 10-20 KB) because embedding them inline eliminates extra HTTP round-trips. For large photos, separate image files are usually preferred for better browser caching.
Yes! The decoder automatically inspects the magic byte headers of the raw Base64 string to detect whether the file is PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, SVG, or ICO, reconstructing the correct file type automatically.
Never. All conversion takes place in your browser tab's RAM and is discarded as soon as you navigate away or close the page.
