Quick answers about file privacy, processing modes, formats, and device support.

PDF/A is an ISO-standardized version of PDF designed specifically for long-term digital preservation of electronic documents. It ensures that documents can be accurately reproduced and viewed identically decades into the future, regardless of software or hardware changes.
PDF/A-1b (ISO 19005-1) is the foundational standard focused on visual preservation (ensuring the visual appearance remains unchanged over time). PDF/A-2b (ISO 19005-2) builds on a newer PDF 1.7 specification, adding support for transparency layers, JPEG 2000 image compression, and embedded file attachments.
