Image Noise Reduction & Denoising Filter

Remove high-ISO sensor grain, digital noise, and color speckles while preserving sharp edges with 100% client-side privacy.

Live

How to use this tool

  1. Upload your photograph (JPG, PNG, WebP, SVG) or paste directly from your clipboard (Ctrl+V / Cmd+V).

  2. Choose a curated noise profile (Light Grain Cleanup, High-ISO Night Shot, Old Vintage Scan, Aggressive Smooth, or Natural Balance) or customize manually.

  3. Adjust the Luminance Denoise slider to eliminate high-frequency grayscale sensor grain and digital speckles.

  4. Use the Color / Chroma Denoise slider to remove random magenta/green chromatic noise blotches from shadows and flat areas.

  5. Fine-tune the Detail Recovery slider to re-inject sharp micro-textures and natural edge crispness without reintroducing noise.

  6. Choose between Fast (3×3) and Deep Clean (5×5) kernel radius for fine grain vs. intense low-light noise removal.

  7. Drag the interactive Before / After split comparison slider or click 50/50 Split to inspect cleaned surfaces versus original noise.

  8. Export your clean, noise-free image at full native source resolution as a lossless PNG or high-quality JPEG.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about file privacy, processing modes, formats, and device support.

Digital image noise arises primarily from high ISO sensor sensitivity, low-light exposures, camera sensor heat, or compression degradation. It manifests in two distinct forms: luminance noise (random brightness variations resembling salt-and-pepper grain) and chrominance noise (unsightly color splotches, commonly magenta and green specks across shadows).
A standard Gaussian or box blur averages all neighboring pixels uniformly, which blurs structural edges, facial features, text, and hair. An edge-preserving bilateral filter weights neighbors based on both spatial distance and photometric (color/luminance) similarity. When a strong contrast boundary is detected, the filter stops averaging across that edge, keeping lines razor-sharp while smoothing uniform and grainy areas.
Luminance denoising targets the grain in pixel brightness, evening out roughness in shadows and flat tones. Color denoising targets random hue and chroma fluctuations. Because the human visual system is much more sensitive to luminance detail than chromatic detail, color noise can be filtered aggressively to eliminate color confetti without sacrificing structural sharpness.
Aggressive denoising can sometimes cause skin or surfaces to appear slightly over-smoothed or 'plastic'. The Detail Recovery slider isolates high-frequency texture components from the original photograph and subtly blends them back into the filtered output, restoring authentic photographic texture and edge micro-contrast.
No. 100% of the pixel calculations and filtering operations take place inside your browser using HTML5 Canvas typed arrays and client-side memory. Your image never leaves your device, ensuring maximum confidentiality and privacy.
Yes. While the live workspace uses an optimized preview for instantaneous slider response, clicking the Download button applies the exact filter parameters across the full-resolution source image pixels for crisp, uncompressed results.
