How to use this tool

  1. Upload any photo (JPG, PNG, WebP, SVG, HEIC/TIFF) by dragging and dropping it into the workspace, clicking to browse, or pasting from clipboard (Ctrl+V / Cmd+V).

  2. Instantly view extracted metadata categorized into Camera & Device, Exposure Settings, Timestamps & Dimensions, and GPS Location.

  3. Check the Privacy & Security banner to see if sensitive GPS coordinates or camera serial numbers are present in the image.

  4. Use the real-time search filter to quickly find specific metadata tags like ISO, Shutter Speed, Focal Length, or Software.

  5. Click the copy button next to any tag or use 'Copy All as JSON' to export the complete metadata dictionary.

  6. Click 'Open in Google Maps' or 'OpenStreetMap' to verify the exact photographic capture location if GPS coordinates were recorded.

  7. Click 'Sanitize & Strip EXIF' to purge all EXIF tags, GPS coordinates, device fingerprints, and thumbnail previews via in-memory canvas re-encoding.

  8. Download the clean photo (JPG or PNG) with 100% privacy preserved, or chain the sanitized image directly into other Elixuvo image utilities.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about file privacy, processing modes, formats, and device support.

EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) is an international standard that embeds technical shooting information into image files when you take a photo. Digital cameras, DSLRs, and smartphones automatically record camera make, model, lens details, shutter speed, aperture, ISO, exposure compensation, flash mode, timestamp, and frequently exact GPS coordinates.
When you take a photo on a smartphone or GPS-enabled camera, precise geographical latitude and longitude coordinates are often stored inside the image. Sharing raw images on websites, forums, or messaging apps can inadvertently reveal your home address, workplace, vacation spots, daily routine, or personal device serial numbers.
Elixuvo renders the image onto an isolated, client-side HTML5 Canvas element at its native resolution, discarding all original binary metadata segments (APP1 EXIF markers, XMP packets, IPTC headers, and camera device serial numbers). The clean pixel buffer is then re-encoded into a fresh JPEG or PNG file that contains zero metadata.
No. Zero bytes of your photos are ever transmitted to any backend server or cloud service. The binary parsing of EXIF bytes and canvas sanitization execute 100% client-side inside your web browser. Your private photos never leave your device.
Yes! You can copy individual tag values to your clipboard with one click, or export the full parsed metadata tree as a structured JSON file formatted for archiving, debugging, or forensic documentation.
The parser supports standard JPEG/JPG files (the primary carrier of EXIF/TIFF markers), PNG files (eXIf chunks and tEXt/zTXt metadata chunks), WebP files (RIFF EXIF chunks), and general image formats for basic dimension, size, and type analysis.
